Data centre eyes expansion
Additional stages set for $40m facility
THE first stage of the $40 million Pulse Data Centre is on track to open in April with project development on track for handover next month.
The handover from FKG Group and NRG Electrical will mark another milestone for the project which has been billed as a major drawcard of innovation and technology to the region.
An additional two data centres with equivalent or larger capacity have also been incorporated into the masterplan.
Pulse DC business development manager John Henderson said delivery concerns and weather had little impact on construction to date at the Toowoomba Technology Park.
“The teams at NRG Electrical and FKG Group have managed to ensure a condensed delivery time frame has been maintained without compromise,” Mr Henderson said.
Construction and fit-out is slated to be complete next
month, with the centre to undergo commissioning and testing in March.
The first centre will have four separate data storage halls, each with 180-rack capacity, he said.
Development of the first hall is expected to ease the
process for client adoption in subsequent data halls.
Mr Henderson said he expected a wave of state, national and international interest in the project before Christmas to increase in the near future.
“We are expecting this to
continue to ramp up now that everyone is back ... and we are especially pleased with the early adopters signed up with Pulse DC,” he said.
“Confidentiality for our clients remains paramount considering the nature of the infrastructure and data we are storing.”
Mr Henderson said he was pleased the project could attract global industry experts such as Schneider Electric on the project development and the wider Toowoomba region.
