DONALD Trump is under fire for making “ignorant, racist” comments, following reports he derided Haiti and Africa as “s---holes”.

TV personalities, social media users and politicians from his own party have turned on the US President after his reported foulmouthed outburst about immigrants.

He reportedly made the remark during a meeting with lawmakers amid suggestions the US restore temporary protected status for immigrants from Haiti, El Salvador and African countries.

Republican Congresswoman Mia Love, the Brooklyn-born daughter of Haitian immigrants, demanded Mr Trump apologise for his “unkind, divisive, elitist” comments that “fly in the face of our nation’s values”.

“This behavior is unacceptable from the leader of our nation,” Ms Love said in a statement.

“My parents came from one of those countries but proudly took an oath of allegiance to the United States and took on the responsibility of everything that being a citizen comes with.”

Republican Congressman Cedric Richmond, chairman of the Congressional Black Caucus, said Mr Trump’s comments were “further proof that his Make America Great Again agenda is really a Make America White Again agenda”.

The Washington Post, reported Mr Trump said at the meeting: “Why are we having all these people from s---hole countries come here?”

The White House didn’t deny the report.

He then reportedly suggested the US should instead bring more people from countries like Norway, a country whose prime minister met with the President on Wednesday.

“The President’s comments are ignorant, racist, with a complete disregard for the human dignity of the Haitian people,” American Haitian Foundation executive director Jack Davidson said in a statement.

Last month, the New York Times reported President Trump had said Haitians “all have AIDS”, in a June meeting last year about immigration. The White House denied the report.
