Brisbane Broncos star Andrew McCullough said all his attention was now focused on being fit for round one of the NRL season, after getting married last week.

McCullough, 28, married his now wife Carlie surrounded by friends and family at Byron Bay last Friday.

The Broncos hooker said his wedding went according to plan.

“It was a really good day,” McCullough said.

“We had plenty of close family and friends there.

“There were about 10 or 11 team mates down there as well as a few former players. It was great to have a good group of boys you have known for 10 years be there for the day.”

McCullough had an up-and-down 2017 which started promisingly, before being cut short by a knee injury in round 21.

If McCullough is fit for round one it would be almost seven months since he last played an NRL fixture.

“I have had a good start to the year getting married and now my goal is to start round one,” he said.

“I want to start the season relatively strong, but when you don’t play for seven months it can take some time to get back into things.

“Things are going really well at the moment.”

The Broncos begin the 2018 campaign on Thursday, March 8 against St George Illawarra Dragons at Jubilee Oval.

The Broncos will be playing closer to home in February when they face the Gold Coast Titans in a trial match, at Clive Berghofer Stadium, Toowoomba, on Saturday, February 17.
