Young stars ready for championships
Seven Toowoomba oztag juniors are ready to take on some of the best players Queensland has to offer.
The young players will feature at the 2018 Queensland Oztag Junior Championships on the Sunshine Coast starting today, however they will not line-up for Toowoomba.
Because of a lack of available players Toowoomba were unable to field their own teams, however players are allowed to signal their availability for selection from a “player pool”.
Teams needing to make up the requisite 16-player squad can draw from the player pool.
Typically if a team needs multiple players they will take them from one club.

the opportunity to play for other teams.
“I love oztag. I’ve been playing since I was eight,” she said.
“I’ve been picked from the pool a few times - it’s fun.
“I like meeting new people and making new friends.”
Gunder who also played oztag in Rockhampton said she loved the back and forth nature of the game.
“I like everything about it (oztag). I like to attack and defend,” she said. “And you have to work as a team.”
The state cup will feature 157 teams and more than 2500 players with representative selection on the line.
“I’d love to make the Queensland side,” Gunder said.
Queensland Country and City sides will be selected for the Oztag Super Series in June.
The sides will play against NSW and the ACT.
In oztag players wear a belt with two tags - the removal of a tag signals a touch or tackle.
