Winter Olympics Seven, 7pm

As our summer sizzles to the very end in most parts of Australia, the sight of snow might be a cool comfort for many. The 2018 Winter Olympics has arrived, and along with it a horde of athletes kittedout in warm gloves, hats, fleeced sportswear and goggles. As we settle in for night one of the icy athletics, beaming to us from Pyeongchang, in South Korea, Aussies to watch with interest include short track skater Deanna Lockett, figure skaters Kailani Craine and Harley Windsor, and snowboarder Alex “Chumpy” Pullin. The world’s eyes will also be on Tonga’s Pita Taufatofua.

House Hunters 9LIFE, 7.30pm

There have been rumours that the house hunters in this aptly named series have already seen and purchased one of the properties featured before shooting the episode. If that’s the case, it explains why the show makes it look so easy to view a mere three properties and miraculously find one they love and buy. Tonight, we have two episodes to play the guessinggame of which home will be the chosen one. We begin in Atlanta with a couple who are still searching for their first home two years after their wedding. Then, a couple pregnant with their second baby search for a grand home in Richmond, Virginia.

Death In Paradise ABC, 7.30pm

For a series about death, it’s a remarkably sunny undertaking. Death In Paradise delights in presenting its cases with a lighthearted touch. There’s usually a quirky or odd circumstance and the murder cases rarely involve floods of tears. Instead, we get sun, sand and sweltering conditions as DI Humphrey (Kris Marshall) and his colleagues build up a sweat trying to solve their tricky but clue-filled cases. In “The Secret Of The Flame Tree” Florence (Joséphine Jobert, pictured) becomes emotionally involved in a case involving her former schoolmate.
