Women supporting women

A GROUP of Entrepreneurial women gathered at Jillys Cafe to talk about the highs and lows of running a business.

Entrepreneurial Woman of Toowoomba organiser Laurie Griggs said the luncheon was women in business who wanted to meet face to face and support each other.

“We do a brainstorming session, so people come up with a struggle or challenge in running a business and we all bounce ideas off each other,” Ms Griggs said.

“It’s almost like a mastermind, with all our powers combined.”

She said the group had been running for only six months.

“Coming from a women’s point of view, we face a lot more challenges than men when running a business,” she said.

“This group is designed for women.

“We’re all in the same boat, so there is a lot of empathy.”

She said the group comprised of a number of different professional women.

“We have financial planners, lawyers, social media marketers, hairdressers,” she said.

“I’m a financial coach, we have tutors, we have a jewellery lady, we have all sorts.”

She said while a lot of members did their marketing online through social media, connecting with other business owners face to face provided them an opportunity to mark through word of mouth.

“There is so much success behind it, it fasttracks messages,” she said.

“It is so much different than connecting online.”

Ms Griggs said the next luncheon would take place on March 9.
