Toowoomba artist creates fabric for striking collection
A TOOWOOMBA artist has created dreamy designs for a company’s striking collection of bedheads.
Artist Tarn McLean shared her designs with The Bedhead Co to create a new and unique range.
Following on from the successful launch in early 2017, The Bedhead Co’s mother-daughter duo Sally Thompson and Alex Morahan, originally from Warwick, provides stylish bedheads in a selection of plush fabrics and timeless designs.
The innovative Brisbane-based business allows customers the unique opportunity to design their own bedheads online, at the click of a button.
Or they can leave it to the experts from The Bedhead Co to curate a custom-made bedhead for their space.
For their latest collection, The Bedhead Co collaborated with a range of fabric designers including Toowoomba talent Tarn McLean from Ocre Designs.
“An integral part of the process is choosing the fabrics, so we have selected a beautiful range for our latest custom-made collection,” Ms Morahan said.
“Of course we love to source from international designers, but it’s also been great discovering talented fabric designers closer to home, like Toowoomba’s Tarn McLean.”
Ms McLean’s illustrations and paintings are all created in Toowoomba, and she said it had been a highlight seeing her fabric in The Bedhead Co’s newest

“I’m so, so excited to see my fabrics on items of furniture, in particular The Bedhead Co bedheads,” Ms Mclean said.
“We are 10-years-old next year and I’m so proud to still be here, designing and manufacturing on shore…to keep providing beautiful wares for my clients.”
Ms Thompson and Ms Morahan were blown away by the response to their debut collection. From Glebe to Goondiwindi, they have been keeping busy with orders coming in from all corners of the country.
“We have been really pleased with the response so far for our small business, and can’t quite believe our creations are sitting in homes across Australia,” Ms Morahan said.
