STREAKER'S CHEEKY FUNDRAISER

- Tara Miko tara.miko@thechronicle.com.au

AN ONLINE fund set up to help an apprentice carpenter pay fines after a “nakey run” across Clive Berghofer Stadium at the weekend has failed to get any support.

Two days after the man claiming to be the cheeky sprinter dashed across the field set up the account, and in light of looming fines for the “entertainment”, the account sat empty.

It appears to have gone live about 6pm Monday.

The fund recounts the dash including the field in the middle of the Brisbane Broncos and Gold Coast Titans trial match.

“I just about made it when I got axed by a security guard and ate s#@t,” it read.

“As a result of my silly behaviour I must appear in court on the 12th of next month.”

The accused streaker, a 20-year-old tradie, was charged with entry onto a playing field and exposure with intent to offend or embarrass, which can attract heavy fines.

“Now from what I’ve read on comments of the videos, and people I have spoken to, majority were entertained by my little performance and said it livened up the night,” the fund reads.

“I was also told my nakey run got more cheers then any of the tries.

“Due to this I thought I’d take a long shot and try get some help to pay my fine (been told it’s probably going to be around $5000) due to the fact I’m an apprentice carpenter and not in a very good financial state.”
