Film festival comes to Empire

ENJOY a night out under the stars on the Empire Theatre lawn on Saturday, February 24 for the annual screening of award-winning touring film festival, Flickerfes­t.

Celebratin­g 27 years of the festival, Academy Accredited and BAFTA recognised, Flickerfes­t showcases the Best of Australian Shorts program, with films hand-picked from more than 2500 entries.

This year’s festival features a range of films including Lost Property Office, which follows Ed, the sole custodian of the office who is as lost as the items he looks after, and Second Best, a dark comedy about the power and bond of identical twin sisters.

American Horror Story’s Jamie Brewer stars in Kill Off, a story about a woman who forms an unlikely friendship with a refugee through their mutual love of KRUMP, and Fysh, a film about an old man and the fish that changed his life.

Wrapping up the screening is Two Bites ,in which Maudie’s eager family descend on her heirloom-filled home as her imminent death approaches and Miro, who returns home at the end of World War II to find his land taken, daughter stolen and his service record treated with contempt.
