Weetwood run on the cards

Lipp still to decide on Beebee path

Toowoomba mare Our Beebee will scout a possible path to the Listed Weetwood Handicap after cranking up a new campaign in a Clifford Park barrier trial.

Our Beebee had her first serious hit-out since racing on December 9 with a 925-metre Classes 1-4 trial win yesterday for apprentice Emma Ljung.

The Red Dazzler four-year-old is a four-time winner from only 11 starts and hasn’t raced since finishing unplaced in the Listed Just Now (1350m) at Doomben.

That followed her second behind Notonyourlife in the Listed UBET Classic (1200m) at Doomben.

Trainer Rex Lipp was undecided yesterday morning on a campaign path for Our Beebee but a Weetwood start at Clifford Pak on April 7 is high on her winter carnival short-list.

“We haven’t really mapped out anything for her yet but in the short-term the Weetwood is a possibility if we can get her into the race,” Lipp said.

“I was very happy with the way she trialled this morning.

“Emma rode her well to win the trial without overdoing it so that’s the next step forward for her.

“I’ll talk with her owner this afternoon and we’ll work out where we might go from here.”

Meanwhile Our Beebee’s stablemate Love Ya Mrs will be looking for a return to the winner’s list when he steps out in tomorrow’s Platinum Hair Toowoomba Class 1 Handicap (1210m) at Clifford Park.

Love Ya Mrs scored a Doomben maiden win on debut in December and has racked up three fourth placings at both the Gold Coast and Ipswich since.

At his latest outing Love Ya Mrs finished two lengths from Tivoli Street in an Ipswich Class 2 over 1200 metres.

“He won his first start nicely but a few things have gone against him since and he’s had to deal with big weights.

“But he’s very honest and he comes back to a Class 1 this week with a claim so we’re hoping he can turn in a similar run.”

Lipp also saddles Seq The Star — a Skye Bogenhuber ride — in tomorrow’s UBET Benchmark 75 Handicap (1210m).

She was a last-start fourth in an Ipswich Fillies and Mares Benchmark 65 Handicap over 1200 metres.

“She’s very consistent and hasn’t had a lot of luck go her way lately either,” Lipp said.

“Hopefully the small field well suit her on Saturday.”

Toughest for Seq The Star to beat includes Break Time.

Break Time has strung together four undefeated Queensland wins since joining premier trainer Ben Currie from Victoria.
