New, contemporary look for your Chronicle

- STEVE ETWELL steve.etwell@thechronicle.com.au

LOCAL news remains the heartbeat of The Chronicle.

How we tell those stories embraces a new look from today with a more contemporary design.

Changes have been made to the way our stories are presented, with the updates designed to better showcase the best of our region.

Bolder headlines, larger body font and additional stand-out design elements have all been introduced in reaction to reader feedback.

The new design has also created space for more stories.

“We’ll have a greater story count – but that doesn’t mean we have retreated from chasing in-depth issues and following the news which matters most to people,” The Chronicle editor Steve Etwell said.

“Passion and parochial support for our region remains in our hearts and this new coat of paint is another way of meeting modern expectations of how people want their news. “We continue to raise the bar.” The new look in print follows changes online where we have updated the website for both desktop and mobile users.

Bolder headlines and better navigation were the key changes, which will include a navigation panel along the top of the website to provide quick and easy access to the latest stories via “just in’’, as well as content in sport, lifestyle, community, what’s on, jobs, motoring, real estate, obituaries and classifieds.

Article pages have also been improved with cleaner layouts to showcase our best stories, photographs and videos.

There will also be easy ways to share stories with others on Facebook or Twitter.
