VOLKSWAGEN owners are gearing up to meet and greet other lovers of the bug.

On Sunday, March 11 Dubs on the Hill will attract hundreds of Volkswagen owners.

The event, held by Klub VW Darling Downs, is becoming one of the largest shows of its type in Queensland.

The non-profit community club actively promotes friendship and camaraderie through restoration and ownership of any Volkswagen, with the motto the older the better.

The bug invasion will include iconic beetles and kombis with their associated lifestyles like surfing and flower power.

This is a free, family fun day offering activities for the kids including a jumping castle.

Club president Neil Batterham said the VW car show was already attracting enthusiasts from southeast Queensland as well as interstate.

“These cars remind us all of a bygone free spirited decades of the 60s and 70s,” he said.

“Something that strikes a chord with all of us. Most people have a classic VW story from their grandparents, aunty or uncle.”

There will be a show and shine, swap meet, live music, rolling raffle, food stalls and of course kombis, beetles and other old VW’s on display.

The show starts at 9am and finishes at 1pm.
