Toowoomba philanthropist Clive Berghofer loves the Garden City and the Toowoomba Turf Club is the latest beneficiary of his generosity.

A brand new, glass-walled marquee will be erected at Clifford Park – just in time for this year’s Audi Centre Toowoomba Weetwood.

“Mr Berghofer’s donation is the single largest donation in the club’s history and we are thrilled to showcase the Clive Berghofer Grande Atrium for Weetwood,” Toowoomba Turf Club Chief Executive Officer Blair Odgers said.

“It’s going to be a gamechanger for Clifford Park – our events and functions will really take a step forward with this beautiful, new facility.”

To compliment the new marquee TTC has heavily invested on the fit-out of the asset, including air-conditioning, a state-of-the-art sound system, furniture, bar refurbishment and trackside Audi Centre Toowoomba Terraces.

“Our old marquee gave us many years of enjoyment and was home to many different events and fundraisers,” Odgers said.

“But we must move with the times and, the opportunity afforded to us by Mr Berghofer, has allowed us to do so.

“We are very excited to reveal the Clive Berghofer Grande Atrium to the public for this year’s 2018 Audi Centre Toowoomba Weetwood.”

Berghofer said he was pleased to partner with the Toowoomba Turf Club.

“I’ve been a member of the Toowoomba Turf Club for many years,” he said.

“I know of many, many organisations that have used Clifford Park’s marquee for fundraising and charity events.

“As the current marquee was coming to the end of it’s useable life, and the broadcast tower was in need of a freshen up, I decided to provide a sponsorship to allow the opportunity for the TTC to purchase a new marquee and repaint the tower.

“The new marquee will continue

to allow lots of local fundraising activities to continue.”

The first event to be held in the new facility will be the Calcutta Sportsman’s Lunch on Friday, April 6.

Two exciting guest speakers have been announced for the much-loved event, including two-time Melbourne Cupwinning jockey Jim Cassidy and Queensland State Of Origin hero Billy Moore.
