Our Commitment. We're for you.

-

THIS is our commitment to you - our readers.

We’re for the long haul.

For keeping our eye on the big picture for Toowoomba and the

Darling Downs.

For never relenting with

The Chronicle’s 40-year campaign to get a second Range Crossing – always keeping our political leaders on notice.

For never forgetting the repeated tragedies caused by truck traffic through our city – the heartache felt by so many families. Now a bypass is due for completion lnaetexrttyheisayr.ear.

We’ve always been for you - since 1861. And today we’re reaching more people than ever - 317,000 people each month, a 42 per cent growth in audience in just a year.

We’re for the readers who turn to us daily as their trusted news source.

It’s been an exciting journey from blackprinted and-white papers to 24 hours a day mobile news services.

And there’s more to come. Our newand look website mobile site are better than ever.

We’re for all our heroes and achievers from the past, now and future on the sporting fields, in our schools, business and all walks of life.

We’re for telling the stories about the people behind the story.

We’ve always been immensely proud of our achievers - on the sporting field, in our schools, in business and all walks of life.

For stories like Toowoomba teen Jed Hockin who sent videos of his football trick shots to global football powerhouse Real Madrid.

When the Spanish club shared one of Jed’s videos on social media, more than five million people marvelled at his skills – just like we did.

We’re for the wonder and beauty of the Carnival of Flowers and The Chronicle Garden Competition - bringing thousands of tourists and injecting millions into our city’s shops and economy.

We’re for celebrating the successes our residents enjoy and the people who helped them on their way to the top.

We’re for holding our politicians to account and telling them what matters to you. For telling them when they’re wrong and fighting until it’s fixed.

For Toowoomba people. Because that’s who we are.

We’re for exposing the stories that must be told - like the Oakey water contamination.

For breaking down the Defence Department’s iron curtain of silence. And we’re for keeping the pressure on to get

residents a fair deal.

We’re for fighting for our share, for what is rightfully ours and will benefit all of you - with campaigns like our Fair Go For The Regions making powerbrokers know we’re not going to sit still for them to squander our taxes in capital cities.

We’re for backing the battlers, whether

We’re for holding our politicians, of all levels, to account and telling them what matters to you.

they’re from Harristown or Withcott.

We’re for those who need a helping hand, the vulnerable, the elderly, the jobless. For those desperately in need. With amazing efforts like our annual Adopt-A-Family appeal which started in Toowoomba and is now state-wide. We’re for the more than 250 families locally and 2000 state-wide who had a Christmas to remember because we asked you to help - and you did magnificently.

We’re for the undeniable joy of a crisp clear winter morning and the feeling there is no better place to live. For the breath-taking beauty of the view from Table Top Mountain.

We’re for the doers, entrepreneurs and those who have made our city one of the most comfortable places to live, work and play.

We’re for Toowoomba Wellcamp Airport. Because it is connecting us to the world. We’re for the vision of those who saw the need, then backed themselves to build it. We’re for families like the Wagners who put their money into their vision.

We’re for the Inland Rail project and its enormous benefits.

We’re for our farmers who feed the nation, that tough breed of people who through droughts and floods never know the meaning of the word quit.

We’re for telling the stories of ordinary people who perform the acts of heroes to rally a community but ask for nothing in return.

Like those who banded together when the 2011 floods devastated our community.

We’re for those who go that extra hard yard to help their mates. The carers, nurses, doctors, paramedics, LifeFlight staff, police and emergency service workers. Those who save lives every day. We tell their stories with pride.

We’re for the hope that unites us in this city which punches so often above its weight.

We’re for looking to the future, to the amazing modern city we’ve become and the plans to make us Australia’s most liveable city.

Because that’s what we’re for. We shout from the rooftops that it’s great to live in Toowoomba, to know that maroon is the only true colour.

We’re for telling the stories of the ordinary man, the ordinary woman, the ordinary people who are extraordinary.

We’re for making life better, sometimes a little, sometimes a lot. We’re for telling the stories of ordinary men and women – people who are really extraordinary. We’re for people just like you.
