Big dreams at Little Seed
Food gift program floated for Toowoomba’s needy
LITTLE Seed’s Ash Andrews and Jess Greer have always seen their restaurant as the start of something bigger than themselves.
Now they’ve taken another step forward along that journey, seeking funding and support for their latest concept Toowoomba’s Table.
The premise is simple - a non-discriminatory food gift program that operates on donations and helps people get back on their feet.
For the husband and wife team, it’s a logical extension of the environmentally-friendly and socially-conscious ethics that underpin their operation.
“It’ll be delivered to people who are in need of it. They can be people of any demographic just people who are in need of a little help at that time in their life,” Mr Andrews said.
“And our hope is to make connections through the food and that this can also develop through to other areas where they might be needing assistance as well.
“It’s that concept of keeping everything local and supporting our community.”
While the project is still in its infancy, Little Seed is looking for people to take part.
The cafe has set up a YouCaring fundraising page, and is also raising money through donation packages via the cafe. There is also a fundraising dinner on March 14.
“Anyone can be involved, and anyone can be nominated, and anyone can do the nominating,” Mr Andrews said.
“While it will be run through Little Seed, the program will be independent (of the cafe).”
