OUR SAY When it’s not right to judge

- SUSAN HARTLAND

I MAKE judgements about people every day – usually on the road.

The driver in the big 4WD so close they can sniff the car in front is clearly a bully. I assume they’re like that off the road too.

That driver texting and almost hitting cars slowing in front – irresponsible and just plain stupid.

In stores, the person who must look at what you’re looking at and just can’t wait one minute – rude.

As for those who don’t acknowledge others when they politely let them into traffic or step aside at doors to allow them to enter or leave - clearly they’re King or Queen Muck and it’s their right that others get out of their way.

Today we’re even judging hits and misses on the Oscars red carpet (P. 8).

We all judge. Thankfully, most of us no longer do so based on gender, race or religion.

Which makes you wonder how, in these seemingly “enlightened times”, anyone could consider it amusing to call a model a “baby elephant”.

Comedian Mick Molloy thinks that’s acceptable – and used his Triple M radio show to have a go at model Simone Holtznagel after watching her in an episode of I’m a Celebrity …. Get Me out of Here.

Holtznagel is the new face of Bras N Things’ Vamp lingerie collection. She’s curvy, gorgeous and actually looks like a woman. Which makes Molloy’s comments even stranger.

We may well wish to judge I’m a Celebrity as a TV show.

But being mean doesn’t extend to comments about contestants.
