A TRAVELLING circus has been left shocked after pieces of show equipment worth thousands of dollars were stolen over three nights while touring in Toowoomba.

Hudsons Circus, which finished up a two-week stint at Queens Park on Monday, had to remove certain acts from their show because of the thefts.

Marketing and promotions manager Katie Driver said the head of an adult-sized rag doll outfit (pictured right) and several new bikes were among the stolen items.

She described it as one of the circus’ worst cases of theft in recent memory.

“We did have alarms on the tent and security measures, but they still broke in and took them,” she said.

“Overall, three things in three different nights.

“It now affects anyone who comes to see the show because we had to remove those acts – it’s thousands of dollars worth of items.”

But Ms Driver said she was grateful for the help from members of the Toowoomba community who tracked down two of the three bikes stolen.

“I want to say thank you to the locals who found two of the bikes,” she said.

“One of them was (found) destroyed, but a little boy got his bike back.”

A police media spokesman confirmed the incidents had been reported, with officers trying to track down CCTV footage from the night.

Despite the stolen items, Ms Driver said the crew was keen to return to the Garden City soon, largely because of the support from the community.

Anyone with information on the stolen items can call Policelink on 131 444 or the circus on 0458 483 766.
