New tipple for city’s beer lovers

Toowoomba gets new honey ale

-

HARAJUKU Gyoza has launched a Japanese craft beer with a sweet twist - and Toowoomba is one of the few places in the country where you can taste the tipple.

The company’s independent Japanese craft beer brand, Yoyogi, has brewed up a Honey Cream Ale made with Queensland-sourced honey.

Already a hit at Harajuku Gyoza Beer Stadium on the Gold Coast, where all Yoyogi Japanese Craft Beer is brewed in one of four 1200 litre tanks, the Yoyogi Honey Cream Ale is out-selling all other special releases.

“You can definitely see a shift in Australian beer drinking habits with the younger generations wanting more adventurous craft beers,” operations manager Masa Endo said.

Last year Queensland as a state led the country for small brewery openings with a total of 17 new brewery openings; one being Australia’s first Japanese Craft Brewery, Harajuku Gyoza Beer Stadium, and an- other being Toowoomba’s first independent brewery, 4 Brothers Brewing.

In addition, Toowoomba is set to open a second craft brewery in the coming months.

“We saw huge growth potential in the craft beer scene in Toowoomba when we opened last September,” Mr Endo said.

“Toowoomba is now home to our biggest range of Yoyogi Japanese Craft Beer outside of our brewing site on the Gold Coast, and is the only place you’ll find our special releases like the Honey Cream Ale.”
