TWO high-profile businessmen with strong links to Toowoomba have laid bare their personal and career highs and lows in a revealing new book that traces their unique climb to success.

Internationally renowned, Toowoomba-based podiatrist Troy Parsons and leading business mentor Greg Gunther, who grew up in and has maintained a close relationship with the Darling Downs, have collaborated in the just released Feet First.

Troy and Greg are two ordinary blokes with ordinary problems that most of us face problems that can lead to unhappiness, divorce, work headaches, bankruptcy, even suicide. Except for Troy and Greg, their ordinary paths crossed.

What resulted was an amazing personal and business transformation – and a book. Feet First tells their story. It is an enlightening read that initially peels the personal layers back to reveal two Aussie blokes who were just trying to get through life the best they could.

They had very typical hopes and dreams. They wanted happiness and success. Not a lot just their share.

They wanted what most of us want – a happy family, a fulfilling work environment and some R and R. But life kept getting in the way.

When they met, Troy was at rock bottom. His business and personal life were on a fast downward spiral.

Greg could empathise. He had once been in the mire that Troy was now immersed.

They met as coach and client, but the more they worked together the more a genuine friendship developed. Over time their “partnership” produced incredible success.

Feet First is a story for everyone.

It has tangible business lessons and solutions - for startups through to corporate highflyers. But the core value of this story is that it is about real people.

It’s about a sheep farmer’s son; a kid from the Gold Coast; an over-achiever; an underachiever.

It’s about young love and heartbreak; leaving home and trying to find direction in life.

It’s about career success and failure; recognising the right signposts and having the discipline and tenacity to follow them; knowing who to listen to, who to follow. It’s about real life.

As Troy says: “I had to share my story, not as a boast, but because I know too many people are where I was . . . and they don’t have to be. So in this book, both Greg and I give our own perspectives.

“We start at the beginning with our own stories of growing up, family, school, our first jobs and relationships and share all the ups and downs of our careers. It shows that no matter where you start, if you plan ahead, plot a course, ask for help and stay true to your goals, then you can achieve your dreams and much more.”

Greg says: “My own journey has shown me that there is no such thing as failure. Failures are only lessons waiting to be learned.

“This book offers something for every business owner, and every reader will be able to relate to and ‘take home’ different insights. Hopefully after reading this book, you too will be more confident in yourself, more willing to take calculated risks and able to reach success.”

Feet First is an Australiangrown success story about how ordinary people can achieve extraordinary outcomes.
