A TOOWOOMBA fitness centre has come up with a creative way to raise funds for a charity which supports those suffering from cancer.

Hop on for Hope is a 24-hour treadmill challenge, designed to be completed as a part of a team or individually.

No one is expect to run the full 24 hours on their own but you can register a team to run the entire time or register individually to come along and run a half-hour leg.

All funds raised will go to Hope Horizons which is a wellness centre for people with cancer.

Its mission is to enhance the quality of life of the people in the region throughout and after their cancer diagnosis.

The event is an idea by Complete Body Health and Fitness owners Ben Loxley and Ryan O’Grady.

Mr Loxley said they were looking forward to the event.

“We have seven treadmills, five used for teams and then two for people registering individually. Those in the teams will have to be on the treadmill for about six hours over the course of the 24 hours,” he said.

Already $1000 has been raised, with the original goal of $1500.

Mr O’Grady said it would be a fun challenge for a good cause.

“We wanted to do something with a local charity and we’re about giving people a better quality of life through health and fitness and Hope Horizons is doing the same, but on a larger scale, for people suffering with cancer,” he said.

The event kicks off tomorrow at 6am.To register or for more information visit mycause.com.au/ events/hoponforhope#.
