1. Celebratin­g Australian women in the arts

WHEN: Today, 2pm

WHERE: Australian Cultural Library, 488 Ruthven St

A celebratio­n and a tribute to the women who have participat­ed in the creation of Australian culture, currently and throughout our past.

The event will feature visual artworks by Amy Hauville, Jade Courtney, Tracey West, Emma Thorne, and Marilyn Baldey. Live music performanc­e by Kimbeaux Dawson, as well as a display of Australian female arts and humanities people and their works of renown.

The event is open to all ages and people of all genders.

Entry is a gold coin donation. Please feel free to bring along any creations you might like to donate to the ACL and its efforts in preserving Australian culture in all its varying forms.

2. Pittsworth Show

WHEN: Today, 6am-late

WHERE: Pittsworth Showground­s, 96 Yandilla St

The Pittsworth Show continues at the town’s showground­s today.

The official opening and grand parade will take place at noon.

There will also be fireworks, showbags, rides, live music, horses, livestock and family friendly entertainm­ent.

A one-day pass costs $12 for adults, $5 for youth, $8 for pensioners and free for children.

4. Toowoomba’s Biggest Cent Sale Ever

All Profits to Queensland Cancer Council.

Entry costs $10 which includes a $5 free cent sale tickets, a lucky-door ticket plus free lunch and tea and coffee all day.

5. The Highway Men Tribute Show

WHEN: Today, 7pm WHERE: Armitage Centre, Empire Theatre,

Kris Kristoffer­son, Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings and Willie Nelson – four towering giants of the music industry.

Known collective­ly as The Highwaymen, the quartet has a unique connection to Australian­s that has only strengthen­ed over the past two decades. The Highwaymen toured Australia in 1991 and 1995, performing in Newcastle, Adelaide, Sydney, Melbourne, Perth and Brisbane. Attracting hundreds of thousands to their concerts and generating an excitement rivalled only by that of The Beatles.

Now, Canadian-born internatio­nal performer and producer Dail Platz – along with Graeme Jensen, Gary LeGear, Dallas Southam and Laurie Keating, have re-created the magic that is The Highwaymen. The show features great musiciansh­ip with pedal steel guitar, acoustic and electric guitars, drums, banjo, mandolin, fiddle and harmonica.The Highwaymen Tribute Show is a musical and visual recreation – right down to their desert backdrop and the trademark rifle coats. This level of profession­alism has really hit the mark with audiences. It is the only genuine, touring Highwaymen show in the Southern Hemisphere.

6. Seed to Feed workshop

WHEN: Today, 9am-noon

WHERE: Oakey Community Centre Come along to a half day workshop by local horticultu­rist Brian Sams to learn how to grow your own fruit and vegetables in backyard gardens, patches and pots.

Workshops cost $5 and are held 9am to noon on Saturdays throughout the year across the Toowoomba region. Bookings are essential.

7. Hi Altitude Show and Shine

WHEN: Tomorrow, 8.30am-1pm WHERE: TAFE oval on Campbell St, All Day

The Toowoomba Hot Rodders will host their Hi Altitude run this weekend. The run will culminate in a big public show and shine at the TAFE oval tomorrow. There will be the cars along with various traders selling rock ‘n’ roll memorabili­a. There will be a stage and band with rock ‘n’ roll dancing taking place.

8. Dubs on the Hill

WHEN: Tomorrow, 9am-1pm

WHERE: Picnic Point

Dubs On The Hill is the highest VW car show of its kind in Australia perched on top of an extinct volcano at the beautiful gardens of Picnic Point, Toowoomba.

A great family day out featuring all VW's, swap meet, stalls, live music and raffles. An event by Klub VW Darling Downs Inc.

9. Tiny Tots and Me markets

WHEN: Tomorrow, 9am-1pm WHERE: Centenary Heights State School Hall

A mix of pre-loved and new items by local businesses. Free activities for the kids and free entry.
