SUMMER LOVIN’

WHETHER IT’S A WEEKEND BRUNCH OR A DAY AT THE BEACH, DONNING SOME STYLISH RESORT-WEAR IS THE PERFECT WAY TO HANG ON TO THOSE LAID-BACK HOLIDAY VIBES

- WORDS: SALLY COATES

Autumn has arrived, but your wardrobe can still enjoy an endless summer. Summer spells holidays, relaxation, golden skin and salty hair – the season to throw on something effortlessly cool.

Anna McBride, founder of resort-wear brand Akosee, says resort style is the perfect way to hang on to that summer state of mind.

“I would say resort-wear comprises everyday pieces that can be worn fuss-free at a moment’s notice,” she says.

“Think relaxed beach cover-ups, casual shorts and top sets, no-iron clothes and stylish dresses for evenings and lunches.

“Our Elements collection is a capsule collection of everything you would need on a holiday, and there’s plenty of mix and match separates for different occasions, from a weekend brunch to easy everyday wear, so the styling options are endless.”

Luli Fama is another label that focuses on resort-wear that looks equally at home wandering the beach or pulling up a stool for afternoon cocktails.

Founder and designer Luli Hanimian also has a few tips on how to get the look without the location.

“We would definitely encourage ladies to bring our swim and resort pieces into their everyday life as they are so easily incorporated for more than just beachwear,” she says.

“We also carry one-pieces and swim pieces with which you can create multiple looks such as our reversible pieces, bodysuits and corset tops.”

Give thought to the details to keep the look polished. “The luxury finishing of each style is extremely important, whether this means adding mother of pearl buttons or exquisite pleat detailing for an exclusive point of difference,” Anna says.
