Tenders out for indoor sports centre

TOOWOOMBA Regional Council has gone to tender for a contractor to take over the running of the Millmerran Indoor Sports Centre for the next four years.

The centre is currently run by Belgravia Leisure, whose head office is in Victoria.

The building is 2600 sq m in total and features two fullsized basketball courts, as well as a gym area, multiple storage areas, kiosk, office space and enclosed community room.

The centre runs multiple activities for the community and services schools within the region.

Attendance rates at the centre have steadily increased since 2015/16, going from 4892 people to 6311 in the current financial year.

Operating hours are Monday to Friday from 6am-10am and 3pm-8pm, and the centre is listed as a Toowoomba Regional Council Evacuation Centre.

Utility costs, security, cleaning and maintenanc­e and insurance will be the responsibi­lity of the successful contractor.

All income sourced from the centre will remain solely the property of the contractor.

The council will monitor the successful tenderer at monthly intervals with regard to the number of persons attending the facility, the number of programs on offer, the number of group exercise classes on offer and the number of marketing and promotiona­l activities conducted.

The closing date for tenders is 2pm on April 3.

Inspection­s of the premises and equipment can be made by appointmen­t through the council.
