Expo for International Brain Awareness Week

-

HOME Instead Senior Care Toowoomba in partnership with the Dementia Advisory Service will host a Brain Health Awareness Expo this International Brain Awareness Week.

The expo raises awareness of good brain health, with a particular focus on dementia risk reduction.

Attendees will discover the various domains of good brain health, including how to challenge their brain, what good nutrition is and how to engage in social activity and exercise to maintain a healthy brain.

They will also learn how looking after general health can reduce dementia risk. This includes keeping blood pressure and cholesterol in check, maintaining a healthy body weight and quitting smoking.

Service providers will be at the event to provide information to those living with dementia and their families and carers around how to maintain their quality of life.

Home Instead owner Donna Weis said they were excited to host the expo for the second year in a row.

“Not only is it an informative event, but it is also an engaging way to educate and inform people about the importance of a healthy brain and how to reduce dementia risk,” she said.

Home Instead Senior Care have caregivers who help seniors remain independent and live at home by offering a range of care services. The Brain Health Awareness Expo will be held at the Toowoomba City Library in the undercover walk way from 9.30am to 2.30pm on Thursday.
