Paranormal buff hosts ghost tour

A TOOWOOMBA paranormal enthusiast is giving people access to areas and buildings they wouldn’t usually be able to visit at night.

Ghost tour operator Katie Harvey has partnered with the Toowoomba Regional Council to host paranormal and historical tours around the region.

“It means I now have full support of the council and have access to places the general public otherwise wouldn’t be able to access at night,” she said.

Areas include the Drayton Cemetery, other cemeteries in the region and old historical buildings.

“Each tour will have a certain theme - I’ll share some ghost stories and also talk about historical information,” Ms Harvey said.

“We aren’t interested in anything recent. We want to still be respectful so we generally chat about the old pioneer times.”

She held a pilot tour earlier this month which was a sellout with great reviews. She is hosting another one in a few weeks which has also already sold out.

Her plan is to host two each month but she said people had to get in quickly to buy tickets because they usually sold out within hours.

“The paranormal is a huge topic of interest around the world at the moment,” she said.

“I think in the past few years people in Toowoomba have felt more comfortable about expressing their thoughts and opinions on it and realising there are more like-minded people out there.

“There is also a huge historical following in Toowoomba so I like being able to give a bit of background and history as part of my tours.”
