A GOOMBURRA man had just got home from work in the early hours of Thursday morning when he discovered his partner had been attacked and had suffered serious head injuries, police have said.

“Just before 1am QAS and police were called to an address in Goomburra where there was a 47-year-old with serious head injuries,” Detective Acting Inspector Paul McCusker said at a press conference yesterday afternoon.

“Her partner came home from work and found her.

“Our information was she was found inside the house.”

Insp McCusker said a crime scene was declared at the address.

“That female person was flown to Princess Alexandra Hospital for treatment for wounds to her head,” he said.

“As a result of inquiries, at 2.30am (yesterday) police were called to an address at Glenore Grove where a 57-year-old male was found deceased.

“Police believe that death to be non-suspicious, but we do believe that the male person who is deceased and the female person who has sustained injuries were known to each other.’’

Insp McCusker said it was too early to tell whether it was an attempted murder-suicide and whether reports the woman was attacked with a baseball bat were true.

He said he also could not say how the two people knew each other.

“I can’t confirm what she was attacked with,” he said.

“Police appeal to anyone who may have seen a vehicle or seen anyone who left the address to come forward.”

He said the partner was not the man found deceased.
