No bail for accused rammers

THE second of two men charged in relation to alleged incidents in Drayton at the weekend including the ramming of a police car will also remain in custody.

While Aaron Trent Bidgood, 23, did not apply for bail when he appeared in Toowoomba Magistrates Court on Monday, his co-accused Christopha Kim Thiemann, 28, had his matters held overnight while his parole status was assessed by the Parole Board.

However, Thiemann’s solicitor Nathan Bouchier appeared before the same court yesterday and sought an adjournment, telling Magistrate Damian Carroll there would be no application for bail on his client’s behalf.

Thiemann remained in the watch house and was not required in court for the brief mention of his matters.

Police claim the pair was involved in incidents on Brisbane St, Drayton, on Saturday afternoon including a police vehicle being struck by a gate which had been rammed by a car allegedly taken from a 60-yearold Brisbane St resident’s yard.

The drama had started when the officers spotted a car believed to have had stolen number plates attached at a service station on Brisbane St.

While the driver fled on foot when the officers approached, police arrested two passengers in the car.

Neither of the accused men has been required to enter any pleas to their respective charges which total 28 and include unlawful use of a motor vehicle, stealing and drug charges.

Thiemann’s case will return to the same court for mention on April 10 while Bidgood’s charges have been adjourned until April 16.
