ROAD closures will be in place when the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games Queen’s Baton Relay lands in Toowoomba next week.

The baton will travel from Oakey to Toowoomba on Wednesday, arriving in the Garden City before heading to the Southern Downs.

Along with the road closures, the Toowoomba Regional Council has advised parking restrictions will also be in place for the historic event.

In Toowoomba, Fitzpatrick St between Denyer St and Richmond Dr will be closed from 9am - 2.30pm or until the relay has passed through the area.

Access for residents will be provided until 1pm.

Mothercraft and Gallery Lanes, between Victoria and Little Sts, will be closed from 4pm - 6pm.

Parking restrictions will be in place in Toowoomba, with on-street parking on the eastern side of Holberton St in Rockville, between Chopin Dr and David St, limited from 9am - 2.45pm.

On-street parking on the northern side of Herries St in front of the Glennie School in Newtown will be controlled from noon - 3.45pm.

The eastern side of Ruthven St, and parking bays on Mothercraft and Gallery Lanes, will be impacted from noon - 6pm.
