ARBC Derby Show making Dalby debut

-

THE Australia Reining Breeders Classic Derby Show that is held from Sunday, March 25, right through until Saturday, March 31, is setting itself up to be a first for Dalby with five separate horse disciplines coming to Dalby Showgrounds to compete for titles in each field.

There will be competitors travelling from as far south as Victoria and far north as Mackay to compete for some of these coveted titles.

The Dalby Showgrounds arena is being transformed into a world class show arena to showcase five disciplines over the seven days of showing.

The first discipline to kick the ARBC Derby Show off is the western dressage event being held on Sunday, March 25 only, followed by the reining events beginning on Wednesday, March 28, and running right through until Saturday, March 31.

There will be action aplenty in the main arena.

The Stockman’s Challenge and campdraft events will also begin on the Wednesday with all events running through the week, leading up to the final of the Stockman’s Challenge, which will be held on Saturday starting at 8am with the dry work finals and the cattle work finals held on Saturday afternoon.

The feature reining event, the ARBC open and non-pro derby event will be on Saturday, starting at 2pm.

This is one exciting event to watch with long flowing manes and tails on these beautifully presented horses, doing big sliding stops and spins that’ll make your head spin.

So come along and see some of Australia’s top reining trainers, non pros and horses in action and admission is free of charge to the public.

This year’s ARBC will also have a feature open working cowhorse event that is being held on the Friday starting at 7pm, and legendary horseman Ian Francis will be judging this event.

There will be over 120 horse and rider combinations to this year’s ARBC Derby Show along with well over 100 support crew and helpers, so this will definitely boost the activity in Dalby the week leading up to Easter right through until Saturday March 31.

As the event organisers Errol and Gita Thomas are strong supporters of shop local, enrolling many of our local businesses as sponsors of this great event.

We especially thank Dalby General Steel, Simplicity Coatings, Dalby Gravel Soil and Garden Centre, Leaders Products, The Windsor Hotel and Kobbers Motor Inn.

Dalby will certainly get a boost to the population and extra activity in the town center boosting sales in the area.

This is the fourth Annual ARBC Derby Show and we are excited to bring many to Dalby over this Easter period as well as have some of the top riders attend with some of the most talented horses in each of these disciplines.

Admission is free of charge to the public.
