Work for Dole agency in court on death
CHARGES against the Work for the Dole agency for which Joshua Park-Fing had been working when he died from injuries sustained at a worksite at Toowoomba Showgrounds have been mentioned before the Toowoomba Magistrates Court.
Neato Employment Services Pty Ltd was not legally represented in court but Magistrate Damian Carroll said he would deal with the matter “on the papers” and adjourned the court proceedings for mention back in the same court on June 15.
Neato Employment Services Pty Ltd has been charged with one count of “failure to comply with health and safety duty — category 3” as the charge read on the court list.
The charge, brought by a Workplace Health and Safety prosecution, arises from the death of 18-year-old Toowoomba man Joshua William Fing-Park who investigators claim died as a result of injuries sustained when he fell from the back of a flatbed tractor trailer, striking his head, while engaged in a work for the dole project at Toowoomba Showgrounds in April 2016.
The Royal Agricultural Society of Queensland and the Work for the Dole project coordinator Adrian Strachan have been similar charged.
None of the accused parties have as yet been required to enter any pleas to their respective charges and no particular details of the case have as yet been aired in court to date.
If convicted, Neato Employment Services Pty Ltd could face a maximum fine of $500,000.
