DOGGONE IT, DISNEY
Lady and the Tramp is the latest Disney film to get a live-action remake and it’s expected to arrive as soon as next year.
Fans of the 1955 classic have flocked to Twitter to express concern over the upcoming adaptation.
Lady and the Tramp tells the story of pampered pooch Lady who loses her life of luxury when her owner welcomes a young baby.
After struggling to survive on the mean streets, she befriends stray mutt Tramp and a host of canine pals who help her get back home.
The film is expected to debut on Disney’s forthcoming online streaming service.
The as-yet-untitled platform is set to rival Netflix and Amazon Prime and will boast exclusive content including a Star Wars TV series.
Lady and the Tramp will be directed by animation veteran Charlie Beam, who recently directed The Lego Ninjago Movie.
It’s expected that the adaptation will follow in the style of 2016’s The Jungle Book by featuring CGI animals with live-action environments.
Some Disney fanatics remained unsure about the announcement, with one writing: “Lady and
the Tramp is my all-time favourite Disney classic but I don’t know how I feel about them making a live-action version of it.”
Another fan vented: “I don’t know how I feel about a Lady and the Tramp live-action movie. I need real doggos not CGI ones please.”
