Best is still to come for unbeaten Dragons

YOU’D be forgiven for thinking the Dragons would rest on their laurels after doing a number on the Titans in Toowoomba yesterday.

However coach Paul McGregor believes there are areas his team can improve upon as they look to claim a clubrecord four wins to start a season next weekend.

“We defended okay and certainly our kick-chase can improve going forward, but the boys have done enough to enjoy it,” McGregor said.

“We fought really hard in the middle part of the first half to get a bit of domination. We had control from then.

“The nice thing there was they only scored eight points.”

McGregor credited his side on their fight at the beginning of the second half when Jack de Belin was given his marching orders for 10 minutes.

“I thought that was a real strong point of our game last week and again this week,” he said.

“Two weeks in a row we’ve had blokes in the bin and we’ve actually won that part of the game.

“The game management around that time was really good from Gaz (Widdop), Hunty (Ben Hunt) and Cam (McInnes).

“It’s really pleasing going forward when you can defend your line and turn that loss into a gain which we did.”

Captain Gareth Widdop was dominant for the visitors, finishing with five try assists.
