Workmanship rewarded Employees celebrated at awards
HUMBLED and honoured is how Toowoomba’s Claire Murphy felt when she, along with eight other people, were recognised at Rotary’s recent Pride of Workmanship Awards.
The T.S. Burstows employee was one of nine hard-working individuals who had their contributions recognised through the Rotary Club of Toowoomba South’s Pride of Workmanship Awards.
The awards have been held every year since 2008.
“I felt deeply humbled and felt it was an honour and a privilege to accept (the award) on behalf of Burstows, who nominated me,” she said.
“Burstows are a wonderful employer and genuinely care for both grieving families and their staff.
“It just made me feel so proud of Toowoomba there are so many beautiful people amongst the businesses who... do a wonderful caring job in whatever field they’re in.”
This year’s recipients were Jodie Kelly for Hutchinson Builders, Sue Hills from Ellipsis Media, Claire Murphy from T.S. Burstow Funerals, Remy Ziebarth from Toowoomba
Anglican College and Preparatory School, Leanne Kiepe from St Vincent’s Private Hospital, Tristan Hudson from Sovereign Property Partners, Rachel Thomas from Cobb + Co Museum, Peter Wensley from Toowoomba Regional Council and Jenny Sutton from
Fairholme College.
Event coordinator Peter Wenham said the awards were based on the candidate’s work ethic, attitude, dedication, performance, responsibility and commitment to his or her enterprise.
“The club has been conducting
this event for a number of years and each year it continues to grow both in number of awards nominated and the number of businesses and organisations agreeing to participate,” Mr Wenham said.
Toowoomba’s Cr Geoff McDonald once again was MC
and kept the audience entertained. Mr Wenham thanked Burstows for their sponsorship of the awards, and wished recipients all the best in their future. The Pride of Workmanship Awards was held at Toowoomba Golf Club Middle Ridge on Tuesday, March 13.
