THREE child care workers from Toowoomba Little School have been nominated for their dedication to the industry.

Sandy Kimmins, Rebecca Gallen and Sandra Neven are all nominees in the Australian Early Education and Care Awards.

They were nominated anonymously and are now waiting to find out if they will be a state finalist, which will be announced at the end of the month.

Toowoomba Little School at the Bernoth Centre cares for 74 children each day, aged from six weeks to kindergarten age.

The centre nurtures children’s curiosity by providing a stimulating and healthy environment where children can flourish.

Ms Kimmins is up for the Early Childhood Director of the Year Award said the centre was a hidden gem in Toowoomba.

“I don’t think many people know about us but we want everyone to know what we can offer and the standard of care we provide,” she said.

“We are very proud and grateful to be nominated for such prestigious awards. It would be fantastic to go further, but even if we don’t it is great to be recognised on this level.”

Ms Gallen is nominated for the Early Childhood Educator of the Year Award and Ms Neven is up for the Rising Star Award.

The finalists will be announced on April 30 with the state winners awarded on May 21.

The winners will then go onto the national awards later in the year.
