Growcom appoints new CEO

LEADING the horticultu­re industry into a sustainabl­e and profitable future will be the focus of new Growcom chief executive officer, David Thomson. Mr Thomson will start with Growcom on May 8 following the retirement of outgoing CEO Pat Hannan who will finish with the organisati­on on May 18, 2018. Mr Thomson will bring a wealth of experience to his role as CEO of Growcom, including 34 years in senior roles across the private and public sectors.

resources through his CEO, management and advisory experience. Growcom Chairman Les Williams, a pineapple grower from Wamuran, said Mr Thomson was a proven leader.

“David has extensive experience across a number of discipline­s and the board is very confident of his ability to lead and direct Growcom as a profitable grower representa­tive body working towards the sustainabl­e future of the horticultu­re industry through effective advocacy on behalf of growers, effective grower engagement and the delivery of valued and relevant services to growers,” Mr Williams said.

“David is keen to engage with stakeholde­rs and is excited about his new role.

“The board is very confident about Growcom’s future under David’s leadership.” Mr Williams thanked Mr Hannan for his contributi­ons as CEO of Growcom and said he looked forward to working with Mr Thomson.
