THE Commonwealth Games is set to hit Toowoomba, with Bell St Mall transformed into a one-stop destination for sports and activities.
Games on Bells is an initiative of the Commonwealth Games Legacy Program to promote the event in regional areas.
The free community day will be held on Saturday and will include a whole range of sports for the whole family to enjoy.
Tennis development officer Adolfo Garcia will be there with his racquets to show children the benefit of his sport.
With so many people with their eyes on the Commonwealth Games, Mr Garcia hopes everyone will get involved and in the spirit of the event.
“Doing activities like this is incredible and obviously with things like obesity and mental health issues, you know, getting kids especially out into playing sport is incredible,” he said.
The Event Group director Maree Parsons said the event would show the community which urban spaces were available for activities.
“We are trying to re-imagine the CBD as a place to come and spend time and especially Bell St Mall is so unique with the space that it has that we can make it come alive with activities,” she said.
There will also be a large outdoor screen which will live stream the Commonwealth Games all day.
Activities include laser skirmish, rock climbing, athletics, basketball, tennis, boxing, badminton, gymnastics, cheerleading, yoga, hula hooping, rugby, skateboarding and face painting.
It will be held at Bell St Mall on Saturday from 10am to 4pm.
