City to taste Uber Eats
Ride-sharing giant confirms plan to offer service in Toowoomba
IT IS the news for which many in Toowoomba have been waiting and salivating.
Ride-sharing giant Uber has confirmed that it will be bringing Uber Eats to the Garden City.
The popular service, allowing users of the app to have food from dine-in restaurants delivered right to their door, will be available in Toowoomba with the company detailing plans to launch here.
An Uber spokeswoman said while Uber Eats was definitely coming to Toowoomba, a date for its official launch would be made by the end of April.
“We’re excited to start planning the launch of Uber Eats in Toowoomba, bringing a convenient and reliable way for people to get the food they love; opening up new economic opportunities for delivery partners; and enabling restaurants and chefs to connect with more customers,” Uber Eats’ Queensland manager Anjuli Steffen said.
“We hope to announce a firm launch date in the coming weeks.”
The company did not confirm which restaurants would be available through the service at this stage, but expected its popularity to surge given the city’s thriving dining scene.
“We’re keen to hear from local restaurants interested in online food delivery and are very excited about Toowoomba’s emerging foodie scene and strong restaurant selection,”
Ms Steffen said.
“Uber Eats also offers locals with a flexible way to earn money, particularly in the evenings, and people can learn more or sign up online.
“The uptake for Uber has been strong in Toowoomba so we are confident our Uber Eats offering will also be well received.”
