Twilight food, music event

A TWILIGHT market being held this weekend incorporates delicious food, local music and boutique shopping.

About 50 stalls will pack Frogs Hollow in Queens Park on Saturday for Bites and Beats, organised by The Original Mix.

Last year Bites and Beats’ April event attracted more than 2000 people and if this year’s Facebook event page is anything to go by there will be a similar crowd on Saturday.

The event aims to reflect an inner city Eat Street vibe.

Residents can browse the boutique markets at dusk which will feature quality handmade and artisan products.

They can then stay on for dinner, indulging in a smorgasbord of delicious cuisines while listening to local musicians.

An Italian food truck is coming from Brisbane and there will also be ribs, pizza, Indian cuisine, twisted potatoes and pancakes.

Organiser Amie Johnson said she was excited to bring back the markets.

“It’ll be a great afternoon and evening. It’s not like just going to the park, people can turn up with a picnic blanket, eat some food, listen to music and the kids can take part in activities,” she said.

“It has been really popular in the past and if the weather holds out we hope to get similar numbers.

“It appears to be really popular online and I think that’s because Toowoomba doesn’t offer something like this on a regular basis.”

For the kids there will be a jumping castle, decorate your own cupcake activity stall, free face painting, lawn games and arts and crafts.

Ms Johnson is also hosting a DIY slime making class, which has already got 1000 people interested.

Bites and Beats will be held from 4pm to 9pm. Entry is $2 for adults with kids for free.
