SUCCESFUL SHOW COMES TO AN END
THE Darling Downs showgirl and rural ambassador have been crowned at the final day of the Heritage Bank Toowoomba Royal Show.
The announcement was just one of many events, including DockDogs action and wood chop finals, on the last day.
The Bell Show Society’s Brooke Cuddihy was named the Downs’ rural ambassador and Warwick’s Sarah Wilson as the Miss Darling Downs Showgirl.
Ms Cuddihy has been involved with the Bell Show and the agricultural industry her entire life.
“It’s something I am very passionate about promoting with our younger generations and making sure that they can get involved and know what opportunities are out there for them,” she said.
Ms Cuddihy owns a property with commercial beef cattle and is an agricultural science teacher at Downland College.
Showgirl Ms Wilson said she was looking forward to representing the region as a third-generation Warwick girl.
“Warwick means so much to me and being able to extend that through the whole region is very special to me,” he said.
Ms Wilson said she hoped to make shows more inclusive.
“Warwick is very proud to boast a disability day once every two years, before the show for children with disabilities,” she said.
“I would really like to be able to make that broader for all shows as well as mental health, which is a true passion of mine.”
Ms Wilson works for Queensland Health and is studying a Masters of Mental Health at the University of Southern Queensland.
They will compete at the state finals at the Ekka in August.
