Peak2Park raises $30k

City’s great generosity on display

-

JUST less than $30,000 has been donated to Toowoomba charities, thanks to this year’s Peak2Park.

The 2018 event raised money for Hear and Say, Cystic Fibrosis Queensland, and the Toowoomba Club House, bringing the total money raised over 13 years of Peak2Parks to more than $350,000.

Since the inception of Peak2Park in 2006, the Healthy Active Lifestyles committee has relied strongly on the generosity of local support to produce such a successful event.

HALT’s chairman Troy Morgan said 13 years later it was still clear the support of those generous people and businesses had not wavered.

“Every year the Toowoomba Wilsonton Lions Club joins the ranks of our volunteer tribe to keep participants watered,” Mr Morgan said.

“Along with our volunteer photographers who do an amazing job scooting around the track to ensure we catch everyone’s best and worst side, right through to the SES and police on the track keeping our

participants safe.

“None of this however can occur without the direction and dedication of the HALT committee.”

Mr Morgan said a special thank you must also go to the Toowoomba Regional Council

which helped Peak2Park implement a Virtual Wellness Challenge.

“This Virtual Wellness Challenge was born to assist participants leading up to and post event,” he said.

“This concept was designed

to allow participants outside of the region to train and partake in the event even though they were unable to physically to attend as well as support those who could attend.”

Mr Morgan said Peak2Park had also established a “Bibeleges

program”, which allowed participants to use their bibs to redeem benefits from supporting businesses.

Planning for the 14th annual Peak2Park will start in the coming weeks.
