Forest Hill welcomes the return of Willie’s girl

-

WILLIE Nelson’s Love Child is returning to the Forest Hill School of Arts for one matinee concert only. After three years of touring, including drought-ravaged outback Queensland raising funds for Aussie Helpers, the talented duo is back to say a big hello to their fans in the Brisbane valley. “We had such a wonderfully warm reception for our March 2015 concert, and we’ve been wanting to go back ever since,” vocalist Sandra Beynon said. “Finally, after the last three years touring, we’ve got some time.” Beynon is Willie Nelson’s Love Child (or is she?) and together with the talented Sean Mullen on guitar, the show comprises a wonderful selection of classic country and western swing tunes. With her “seven dwarves” collection of ukuleles and Mullen wrangling a beast of an acoustic guitar, the duo has delighted audiences in almost every corner of the continent in the last three years. Also on the playlist are tunes by much-loved Charley Pride, Linda Ronstadt, Ray Charles, Olivia Newton-John and Patsy Cline. And just who is Willie Nelson’s love child? “Willie made several visits to Brisbane and his tour bus was very comfy. I’m not saying any more than that and neither is Mum,” smiles Beynon. “What inspires us is Nelson’s own stamina for being on the road and in the studio - at 83 years of age he is still travelling and recording with just about every body. Nelson transcends his genre and brings to the stage the purest form of entertainment - singing his songs in any way that takes his fancy on any given performance,” added Mullen. Country Music Matinee with Willie Nelson’s Love Child will be held at Forest Hill School of Arts Hall, Sunday, April 22. Doors open 11am for 12pm concert. Tickets are available at Forest Hill Post office or online at https://countrymusicmatinee.eventbrite.com.au.
