Meringandan pub donates cash for viral busker’s gear

HE HAS wowed audiences in person and online with his singing and guitar work on the street.

Now Toowoomba busker Dylan Crowe has been given a helping hand by the Meringandan pub to achieve his dreams.

Mr Crowe, who attracted thousands of Facebook views for performing outside a Highfields supermarket in February, was given $800 by publican Geoff Murphy to go towards a new PA system.

Meringandan pub employee Wayne Wallace said the talented 23-year-old turned heads when he performed at the venue in March.

“He came out here and for the first time in a long while, people (were) just listening to this young fella and he was quite good,” he said.

“We read the article (in The Chronicle) and we’ve given him a leg-up with funds - as he does a few more gigs, we’ll kick in some more to do it again.”

The buzz around the singer also earned Mr Crowe a support spot with rockers Thirsty Merc when they come to Highfields in May.

Mr Crowe was thrilled to receive the donation, saying it was a sign the community wanted him to succeed.

“It means that the community is taking me to the next level. That’s what they’re doing by supporting me,” he said.

Mr Crowe will perform at the Meringandan pub tomorrow from 12.30pm.
