Kids enjoy colour fun

Students get messy and raise money

-

RANGEVILLE State School students got splattered with colour for a good cause yesterday, aiming to raise $15,000 to fund new playground equipment for prep and Year 1 students through their participation in a colour run.

Students have been juggling their training for the 2018 CUA School Fun-Run with an enthusiastic sponsorship and donations drive, seeking support from their families, friends and neighbours in the lead up to the big day.

And yesterday’s rain didn’t dampen students’ enthusiasm for the colourful event, with hundreds of squealing pupils getting messy as they made their way around the track.

Rangeville State School hosted the fun-run as part of a CUA Community Day.

The CUA School Fun-Run is a national program, which reaches almost 230,000 students each year.

Last year, schools raised a total of $4.3 million through the School Fun-Run program – providing welcome financial support to projects including the upgrading of school equipment and supplies, facility enhancements, and in some cases, allowing the schools to contribute funds to other local community projects.

CUA Toowoomba branch manager Andria Harrison said it was exciting to be involved, praising the Rangeville State School students for their passion toward the initiative and the important contribution it made to the local community.

“It’s inspiring to watch these students display the initiative and drive to reach their fundraising target, but also recognise the value of working with the community to achieve both individual and collective goals,” she said.

In addition to promoting fitness and participation, the CUA School Fun-Run program also provides students and families with additional tools and practical advice from an online health hub, highlighting the importance of ongoing healthy habits at home.

The School Fun-Run program has been running Australia-wide since 1987, with participating schools raising over $90 million to date in extra funding.

With donations still to come in, a final tally of Rangeville State School’s fundraising won’t be available until the end of next week.
