Baby Connor was well worth the weight

IT COULD be said this couple’s first born child was well worth the weight.

Connor was born at 11.38am on Saturday in the Toowoomba Hospital weighing in at an impressive 12lb (5.43kg).

The Goondiwindi-based couple, who asked not to be identified for privacy reasons, travelled from the border town to Toowoomba last week in preparation for the birth.

“She was in labour for just over 40 hours before the C Section,” Connor’s father explained.

“We had been told he had a long body and that he could be big but that it could also be fluid so we didn’t know.”

Asked what his reaction was when he saw the size of his son, Dad, who was present at the birth, replied: “I don’t know if you can print that but I was extremely surprised.”

“He was 57cm in length and had a head circumference of 40.2cm.

“You look at him beside the other average-sized babies and you just go ‘Wow!’ ”

Connor has already proved to have quite the appetite at feeding time.

“He can drink 40mls of milk,” his mother said.

“We’ve had to buy bigger nappies as the ones we had were too small.”

Apparently, Connor also has a strong, loud voice.

“He’s got a good set of lungs on him,” his mother said. “You can hear him above the other babies.”

Connor’s father heaped praise on Toowoomba Hospital staff who helped with the birth of the couple’s first child.

“We’re extremely happy with the service of the hospital staff,” he said. “We couldn’t have asked for anything more of the staff.

“They looked after bub, they looked after mum and at times they looked after me.”
