A DOG named Ice was an integral part of a police team that uncovered a massive stash of drugs and firearms around Warwick at the weekend.

Warwick Detective Sergeant Darren Tamblyn said Ice was trained to sniff out unlawful items and was on the scene for raids at 10 Southern Downs properties.

More than $20,000 worth of drugs, six firearms and a gun silencer were uncovered in the raids, which resulted in 19 people charged.

Some were alleged associates of outlawed motorcycle gangs including the Finks, Bandidos and Lone Wolf.

Det Sgt Tamblyn said a substantial quantity of cocaine, ice, steroids and money believed to be the proceeds of drug supply were located.

“Of concern during these early morning raids were a number of weapons including shotguns, semi-automatic weapons and a shotgun silencer located by police,” he said.

“During one of the raids, a shotgun was located readily accessible to persons at the front door of the premises.”

Warwick Criminal Investigation Branch worked alongside the Major Organised Crime Gangs Squad and Brisbane-based Drug and Gun Detection Dog Squad to carry out 10 search warrants in Warwick, Leyburn, Killarney and Wheatvale.

Nineteen people aged 25-54 were charged with 65 serious drug and firearm offences, including the unlawful supply of cocaine, steroids and ice.

They were released on bail and will appear at Warwick Magistrates Court on June 6.
