Project 62 to take us on a journey

-

GET ready on Saturday to join Project 62 at The Empire Theatre’s Armitage Centre for a night of realisation, respect and appreciation.

The six-piece group is launching their third offering, EP No Passing Thought.

Project 62 have endured more than 10 years without line up change and in that time chalked up an impressive list of achievements.

Some of those highlights include holding the top spot on Triple J Unearthed with their song Pulse, regional winners of ABC’s Exhumed competition and appearing in iTunes notable release list in 2012 for their second album Mortal recorded with Anthony Lycenko (Busby Marou, Pete Murray).

“We recorded and produced No Passing Thought ourselves right here on the Darling Downs at Highfields Sound & Productions and later in my lounge room. We’re quite pleased with the results,” guitarist Mark Chalmers said.

The six-song EP is heavily textured, musically diverse and full to the brim with messages that challenge listeners to think about their place in the world and their connection to the Earth.

Vocalist Jason Lawler said the band plans to take listeners on a journey through two sets of musical twists and turns designed to inspire thought, belief and action.

“This will be a show that promotes appreciation of our privileged place in the world, respect for each other and our collective diversity and realisation of what we are, what we have and what we can contribute,” he said.

Project 62 will next head into to the studio with renowned producer Steve James (The Sex Pistols, The Screaming Jets, The Rumjacks, Mental as Anything, Skunkhour) to record a follow up EP in July.

Tickets can be purchased at the Empire Theatre with each ticket holder receiving a CD copy of the EP on the night. Doors open at 7pm with the show starting at 7.30pm.
