Budget a hot topic for bosses
THE Toowoomba Chamber of Commerce will work closely with Lifeline to strengthen proactive mental health programs and initiatives in businesses.
Chamber CEO Jo Sheppard said as a result of Lifeline receiving funding in the 2018-19 Budget this week, the two organisations would collaborate with others to boost healthy workplaces for all employees, with a focus on younger workers.
“There was an investment in Lifeline and also an investment in mental health which I think from a community but also a business perspective is really important,” Ms Sheppard said.
“There has been some research coming out that mental health is the number one concern for young people, and young people are our future.
“So I think as a business community, we need to look at mental health in our workplaces.”
The Chamber yesterday hosted more than 110 members of the Toowoomba business community for its annual Federal Budget Breakfast with
RSM.
RSM business advisory manager Will Laird broke down the Federal Budget and what it means for regional operators.
“There is always the interest from the business community once the broad announcements are made, and then getting to know the detail and how it is going to impact your situation,” Ms Sheppard said.
