Beast is unleashed on the city

-

RENOWNED writers and journalists Ray Martin and Peter Fitzsimons will be among the 52 authors and speakers who will take part in a symposium in Toowoomba later this year.

Yesterday saw the official launch of the Unleash the Beast Writing and Wellbeing Symposium - an exciting event coming to Toowoomba for the first time on October 10 - World Mental Health Day.

The first of its kind in regional Australia, the symposium’s aim is to share, promote and propagate the conversation about mental health in a relaxed, entertaining and engaging manner.

Bringing over 52 amazing authors and speakers from all over Australia to Toowoomba, the symposium will provide the writers the opportunity to share their own stories about how mental health affects us as individuals, as families and as a community.

If one in five adults experiences mental health issues, then the remaining four out of five adults need to know how to support them.

That’s why Lifeline Darling Downs and South West Qld Ltd have been chosen as the beneficiary of the event.

CEO Derek Tuffield officially launched the event, alongside Cr Geoff McDonald.

Media and guests also heard from Annie Flamsteed, CEO of INSPIRE, a series of wellness programs housed on an innovative platform specifically created for young people who will be speaking at just one of the sessions on offer in October.

The event is supported by the Toowoomba Regional Council, the Toowoomba Chamber of Commerce and local businesses.

Tickets are available from unleashthebeast.com.au or at toowoombatickets.com.au.
