Builder now in liquidation

-

A CONSTRUCTION company in charge of 23 sites across Toowoomba when its building licence and that of its director was suspended in late 2017 is now in liquidation.

My Home Builders Qld Pty Ltd was hit with an application for a winding up order by FJ Holden No.1 Pty Ltd as trustee of the Mabilia Family Trust trading as SJM Plumbing on April 26, according to the Australian Securities and Investments Commission.

The Supreme Court in Brisbane appointed Christopher Baskerville of firm Jirsch Sutherland as liquidator on May 2.

In November 2017, the Queensland Building and Construction Commission suspended the building licence of Southport-based My Home Builders Qld Pty Ltd, and that of its director, Nikola Grulovic.

The regulator said in a statement the licences were suspended after the building company claimed progress payments for work not yet completed.

The company in late November attempted to secure an interim order from the Queensland Civil and Administrative Tribunal to allow the company to continue work while they navigated the appeals process.

The application was refused by the tribunal.

In late January 2018, a QBCC spokesman said the organisation was aware of 23 properties in the Toowoomba area contracted to My Home Builders Qld, including 19 at Sanctuary Rise on the city’s north-western edge, and four in Drayton. A number of those sites have since been contracted to other builders.
