Good yellowbelly on the bite across region’s dams

-

Fishing has been really good this past week out at Cooby Dam.

There has been good amounts of cod and yellowbelly being caught with jigging saltwater yabbies and ZX blades producing the best results.

Early in the morning people are having great success on tn60s trolled close to the beds.

Leslie Dam

Big numbers of yellowbelly were being caught over the long weekend.

Most anglers were bagging out on fish.

Saltwater yabbies were the bait of choice, with the trolling anglers struggling to catch a fish.

Somerset Dam

The fish were few and far between this week.

A lot of the smaller fish have been biting quite well but the larger fish have been very tight to the bottom.

The best way to target these fish has been trolling a deep diving hardbody that bumps into the bottom.

Jigging blades and ice jigs have been claiming some reasonable fish.

Pelican Point is still the most productive spot.

Bjelke-Petersen Dam

It’s been a case of quantity over quality this past week.

Casting small metal blades and tailspinners have been picking up a lot of the smaller fish.

The trolling anglers are having good success, covering ground with the Jackall tn60 working well.

Moogerah Dam

there have some great results over the last week as you start to move into deeper water.

The spit is still holding large amounts of fish and this week they have suspended into 35 foot with soft plastics and

spoons been working a treat.

It’s also worth a look around the start of the timber.

Copeton Dam

The weather is cooling down and the fish are well and truly on the move.

There have been some better results are starting to come in.

Large surface lures like the Mudeye snakes have claimed some great fish in the last week but Jackall Gantarels and Gantias are still the lure of choice.

Gold Coast

It’s that time of year when the snapper show up in large numbers and the closer reefs like the 18-24 fathom reefs are always worth a look.

Lightly weighted pilchards are proving to be the most productive.

Fishing wide off the reefs there has been some mackeral getting around, trolling large hardbodies and skirts should get you a limit.

With the lead up to the full moon this week there will large numbers of bream squire coming into the seaway, cut baits like pilchards and prawns will be your best bet.
